My name is Jane Richard Philips and I’m Ambassador of Longines. I’m Swiss and live in Italy (Vinovo, Turin) with my husband and my son.
How do you prepare for the Gucci Paris Masters?
I will be present at the Gucci Paris Masters with my two best horses. I trained them at home. Since my horses participated in the finale of the Longines Global Champions Tour in Doha, they are ready! I train with my husband, Ignace Philips, who helps me a lot with my horses.
For you, what makes the Gucci Paris Masters unique?
The Gucci Paris Masters is unique. Only one competition like this one exists. Thank you to the sponsors for making it like that. The best moment is the Longines Speed Challenge! That’s sport, it fast and liven things up ! The others events are also interesting.
You’re Longines Ambassador. What is your involvement with the brand?
I’m very proud to be Ambassador of Longines. I participate in the biggest competitions in the world where I represent the Swiss watch brand. Longines watches are very stylish and very athletic! We cannot ask for more. They match with the equestrian world, because horse and rider represent elegance!
What is your most precious souvenir as a rider?
There are many special moments in the career of a rider! Win, lose, live the joy and tears ... To win, you must also know how to lose. Thanks to my horses, I have many times experienced very great victories in Grand Prix, in Nations Cup, in the final of the World Cup in Geneva, a third place in the Swiss Championship, the final of the Longines Global Champions Tour with Pablo Virton… I thank my horses for all this!
Outside the sport season, what is your typical day?
When I'm not competing, I work with my horses. I keep them in condition, we do some stretching, we go for a walk… I make sure they are happy!
I also have a son who brings me great joy and with my horses, keeps me physically fit.
Do you have other passions?
I am a person who loves sports. I cycle, run, ski, snowboard and play tennis. I devote myself to all this when I have the time.
How you do you choose your horses?
I choose my horses with my husband. He helps me to find them, train them, and he also helps me to improve… So I have a great team supporting me, thanks to Longines, my parents, my husband, my horses, my groom and all those who help me every day!
