Hong Kongers get right behind the 2014 Longines Hong Kong Masters

More than 167 volunteers will help put the show on at the upcoming Longines Hong Kong Masters at AsiaWorld Expo.

They will be front and centre of the event and assist in many important areas including setting up and dismantling of the various competition courses and management of gate entrances and information stands.

Hong Kong Equestrian Federation Secretary General Angela Kong who heads up the Longines Hong Kong Masters volunteer program says not only will their involvement help ensure that the event runs smoothly but it will also increase their major event and horse management skills for the future.

“They play such an important role but also benefit by learning new skills that can help to develop the Hong Kong equestrian scene,” Kong said.

There are more volunteers involved this year than at the inaugural Longines Hong Kong Masters in 2013 (80) and Kong says only one month after last year’s event many people were already wanting to sign up to be part of the 2014 edition.

And who could forget the touching moment when all the volunteers gathered together in the main arena on the final night last year to provide a victory archway for the star rider of the show Frenchman Patrice Delaveau.

The volunteers loved being part of the event and this made the time that they give up well worthwhile. There is bound to be another reward for their tireless efforts in 2014.
