Opera Gallery to Bring a Masterful Exhibition of Magnificent Contemporary Art to the Longines Hong Kong Masters 2015
Monday 09th February 2015 Hong Kong
For the second year in a row, The Longines Hong Kong Masters (LHKM) is proud to announce Opera Gallery as an exclusive and official art partner for Asia’s largest five-star international indoor show jumping event, taking place from February 13-15, 2015 at AsiaWorld-Expo.

This year, Opera Gallery will showcase a selection of diverse contemporary artworks by various international artists, chosen to reflect the ethos and spirit of the LHKM experience. The inspiring and spectacular life-size sculptures will be hosted in the Prestige Village.

Artists include Brazilian artist Roméro Britto, French artists Laurence Jenkell and Richard Orlinski, and Japanese artist Ando Hiro. This year’s showcase also highlights Chinese and Asian sculptors such as Ji Yong Ho and his black horse artwork made with meticulously cut strips of tire, Xiong Lijun’s colourful cartoonlike Chinese pop art designs, and Xiao Bai’s iconic work ‘Mickey Never Down’, a sculpture of the celebrated Disney character.

“This year’s collection is bold, strong, playful, colourful and energetic”, says Shirley Yablonsky, Director of Opera Gallery Hong Kong. “We will be showcasing ten life-size sculptures by various international artists around the vivacious theme of ‘Playland’, including an alternative Mickey Mouse, a multicoloured Lolita and a mythical snake. The Prestige Village will be transformed into a vivid and colourful theme park where horses, performances and emotive art will blend together for a spectacular all round sensory journey.”

Renowned French street artist CEET will complete a live real-time graffiti painting performance, ‘I Believe I Can Gallop’, capturing the exceptional sentiment of the three-day event.
There will also be scavenger hunt for children and art tours for those who wish to delve deeper into the psyche of the featured artists.
Christophe Ameeuw, founder of EEM and organizer of the Longines Hong Kong Masters, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Opera Gallery once again this year. Its 2015 collection perfectly mirrors the personality of the Longines Masters.
“It is one-of-a-kind creative experiences such as these that make the Longines Masters an event that goes beyond just equestrian. Along with the best show jumping in Asia, we have evocative art, Michelin starred cuisine, champagne tasting, a luxury village; it’s the first social event on the 2015 Hong Kong calendar.
