Artists shine center stage at the Longines Masters of Los Angeles
Wednesday 23rd September 2015 Los Angeles
Live entertainment plays an integral role at the Longines Masters events, whether in the form of horse-and-rider pairs soaring over obstacles or musicians and performance artists showcasing their talents throughout the show grounds. New this year to the Longines Masters of Los Angeles is the added feature of live music performances appearing on the stage in the main competition arena.

This year’s line-up of musicians includes solo artists, like Lesley Stevens, Shane Alexander, Jesse Payo, Celeigh Chapman, and bands like Powdercoat, Reverend Tall Tree, and Jesse Palter Quartet. Performances will take stage in both the lounge and in the main arena, with ample occasions to fill the indoor show jumping venue with sounds to complement the rhythmic thud of hoof beats.

Brennley Brown, 13-year-old artist and avid equestrian, and Chris Pierce, front man for Reverend Tall Tree, will sing the national anthem on Friday and Saturday, respectively, to open the evening programs. For Sunday’s big grand prix finale, Pia Toscano, a finalist in the 10th season of American Idol, will perform her rendition of the national anthem. Furthermore, photo opportunities will abound in the Prestige Village as stilt walkers amble around, adding flair to the glamorous ambiance.

So be sure to check the musical performance schedule and not miss a single exciting event at the Longines Masters of Los Angeles.

About the Artists

Powdercoat: Kristin Mooney and Claire Holley began singing together a few years ago when a mutual friend in Los Angeles  brought them together to sing in a band of female voices. The two had an immediate vocal chemistry and soon began writing together. Their self-titled EP, produced by Greg Herzenach, was selected winner of the 2014 Mississippi Institute of Arts & Letters Awards for popular music composition. Collectively, they have shared the stage or recorded with Lucinda Williams, Iron & Wine, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Peter Himmelman, and Glen Philips.

Leslie Stevens: A folk-country singer based in Los Angeles, Leslie Stevens recently recorded a new album with producer Jonathan Wilson at Fivestar Studios. The L.A. Times describes her as “one of the city’s best” with a voice like “a rounded shining thing that evokes Patsy Cline’s sass and sorrow in one swoop.”   Her studio credits include work for Brian Wilson and Father John Misty, and her original compositions have been licensed by Showtime, Fox, ABC, NBC, and the late avant-garde director George Landow.  She has appeared on the scores of films such as “Burning Palms”, “Madagascar 3“, and “Little Birds”, and has had the privilege of singing live with songwriters like Jackson Browne, Joe Walsh, and Lucinda Williams.

Chris Pierce: Soul singer and songwriter Chris Pierce has invited audiences all over the globe to open their hearts and spirits through his soulful, energetic music and honest storytelling. Chris has released five independent albums worldwide. In addition to his own headlining tours, he has opened worldwide shows and tours with such artists as Seal, B.B. King, Al Green, Cold War Kids, Toots and the Maytals, Aaron Neville, and Colbie Caillat. His voice and music have appeared in numerous films and television shows, including Soul Men, Crash, True Blood, and Grey's Anatomy. Chris also has been very well received by the TED community with TEDx talks on "The Healing Powers of Music," both in California and in Chicago.

Reverend Tall Tree: Reverend Tall Tree plays original Blues & American Roots music in the tradition of Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, Bo Diddley, and others, that’s sure to make the crowd shout, stomp, shuffle, and holler. The band released its debut album in 2015. The band is headed by Reverend Tall Tree, also known as singer/songwriter Chris Pierce.

Shane Alexander: Los Angeles-based solo artist, Shane Alexander has spent the last decade building a loyal international fanbase by touring the US and Europe constantly - often sharing the stage with artists like Seal, Jewel, and Bon Iver. Songs from his impressive 5-album catalog have turned up in over 100 films and TV shows, including: Bones, Deadliest Catch and White Collar. His sixth album will be released in March of 2016, with an international tour to follow.

Jesse & Leeann : Jessie and Leeann met on Valentine’s Day 2013 when Jessie was opening up for one of L.A.’s top bluegrass bands The Get Down Boys.  Leeann had recently moved to LA from Arizona and started playing shows with the Get Down Boys.  Not long after meeting, Jessie and Leeann realized they shared the same love for American grass roots music.  They began to play double bills around LA and started to combine their sets into one thus making them the duo that they are today.  Just recently, they released their first record One Day on Bandcamp (produced by guitar player and singer of the Get Down Boys Andy Keathly).  The record is aptly named “One Day” simply because in one day, they recorded, mixed, designed the cover and released their record in…One day!

Céleigh Chapman: Céleigh Chapman grew up singing country standards in the juke joints of Bakersfield, Calif., performing for every jam session and in every public arena she possibly could before she was in high school. Her start in country music was her first public performance of “Home on the Range” in the third grade, which would later lead to her selling out the Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace before she was 18. In March 2014, Céleigh self-released a solo EP entitled "Happy Now," which was recognized by iTunes as "New and Noteworthy," featured as Myspace's "Artist of the Week," and gained multiple spins on Los Angeles' KCRW Radio by tastemaker DJ Valida.

Jesse Palter Quartet: A jazz quartet and new project from songwriter and vocalist Jesse Palter. Through both training and pure instinct, Detroit born/Los Angeles based Jesse Palter has made a name for herself as an accomplished and dynamic vocalist and composer in the jazz and overall music scenes. Palter went on to win numerous music awards (including Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Jazz Vocalist 3 years in a row) and has thrilled audiences from Israel (headlining the Red Sea Jazz Festival) to China and throughout the States. Her original music has been featured on a variety of television shows and commercials including The Real World, 90210 and Keeping Up With The Kardashians and in such noteworthy blogs as Perez Hilton and The Daily What. She just finished recording her highly anticipated sophomore jazz recording slated for a 2016 major label release.

Originally hailing from Howard Beach, N.Y., Pia was a frontrunner in the competition and her early departure in ninth place shocked the celebrity judges, Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler.
